Your child’s first eye exam. First pair of glasses or contacts. Hitting that age when bifocals help with reading. Treating disease and age-related eye conditions… Northland Eye Specialists is here for every stage of life and every generation in your family.
Your child’s first eye exam is a big deal! We explain what we’re doing, why we’re doing it and what the “big black thingy” is. We give hugs and hold hands or whatever it takes to make your child feel comfortable and secure. Children’s eyesight can change just as quickly as they grow up, but annual eye exams can spot problems before they impact learning or coordination.
Vision changes in adults can occur so gradually that you hardly notice. Scheduling an annual routine eye exam is the most effective way to protect and keep your vision sharp. Did you know an eye exam could also save your life? By examining blood vessels and nerves at the back of your eyes, your eye doctor can detect health conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure long before other symptoms appear.
Medical eye exams are important as we age when cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration become common. Blindness or vision loss can often be prevented with earlier diagnosis. Your eye doctor will determine whether or not you’re a candidate, and which procedure can deliver the results you expect.
Generations of families trust Northland Eye Specialists for their eye care. You and your family can too.

A thorough annual exam not only keeps your eyesight as sharp as can be, but also gives us insight into your general wellness. Your overall health is just as important to us as your vision. We look for signs of conditions like diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol. An early diagnosis during your routine eye exam can prevent irreversible damage and vision loss down the road.

Medical eye exams become important as we age when cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration grow more prevalent. They’re especially important if you have a family history of certain eye conditions or diseases. We preach annual exams for early detection and prevention, but if surgery is in order, our surgical skills and eye surgery center are second to none. If you’re considering a cosmetic procedure, a medical eye exam is in order to determine whether or not it’s right for you, and if you’ll be completely satisfied with the outcome.

Crayons? Check. Kindergarten vision exam? Check. Going to kindergarten is a big milestone in your child’s life. Missouri requires comprehensive eye exams for all incoming kindergarteners. For many of our patients, it’s their first time in the exam chair. Even if your child sees well at a distance, there could still be issues with near vision, eye coordination and focusing that impact learning. We recommend your child has an eye exam every other year or annually if there is a history of disease or corrective vision. Plus, we just like watching our little patients grow up!
